Scouts

The Cathedral of St. Thomas More charters Cub Scout Pack 194 and Boy Scout Troop 2535. Scouting begins in Kindergarten and continues through 5th grade. Sixth graders may continue with Boy Scouts. You can join at any age - you do not have to start in Kindergarten.

Boys Scouts

BSA TROOP 2535 Chain Bridge District of National Capital Area Region, chartered by St. Thomas More Cathedral. Boy Scouting is for 5-12th grade boys. We do a lot of fun activities like monthly campouts, council events like the Camporee and Klondike Derby and summer camps at various BSA camps in the area. We also work on merit badges to learn about careers and to learn new skills. Come and join the adventure.

Cub Scouts

Cub Scout Pack 194 is chartered by the Cathedral of St. Thomas More and has been active since 1989. The charter is granted by Boy Scouts of America. Membership is open to boys in grades 1-5 who are students at the Cathedral’s school or members of the parish, and boys may join Pack 194 in any year.

New Scouts usually register at the beginning of the school year. Cub Scouting aims to foster interaction between parents and their sons. The family-centered activities of Pack 194 include camping, hiking, outdoor skills, arts and crafts, making race cars for the Pinewood Derby, discussing faith and values, and serving the community. Scouts are encouraged to earn religious emblems and attend fall and spring Scouting masses at the Cathedral. Siblings are often welcome at Pack 194 events, and parents say they enjoy having this organized quality time with their children.

Girl Scouts

The Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital (GSCNC) is the premier leadership development organization for girls. With the support of our dedicated adult volunteers and parents and the generosity of corporations, foundations and our popular Girl Scout Cookie program, Girl Scouting provides girls with ways to learn new skills, participate in a variety of activities and service projects and make new friends. The Girl Scout Council serves the Greater Washington Region, including Saint Thomas More Cathedral School, where we have nine troops (grades K-8). Scouts register with troops at the beginning of the school year. Meeting times and dates vary per troop.
