Dear St. Thomas More community,
Before I depart from STM, I wanted to send a heartfelt message of gratitude to our wonderful community. As an alumnus of the 2005 STM graduating class, I feel blessed to have been able to return to the school as a faculty member. As a student, I made some of the best friends that I still know and love today, was taught by dedicated educators some who are still teaching at STM currently, and provided a safe place to learn more about our faith and curriculum.
Fast forward 5 years and I was able to return to STM as a lunch and Extended Day aide. During my time, our previous principal, Eleanor McCormack allowed me to assist the incredible office staff with administrative tasks and to sub in all grade levels so that I could get the experience I needed during my college career. I am forever grateful for this experience as it shaped the educator and coach that I am today and really prepared me to help Nina Page maintain the Extended Day program. The last 4 year have been a roller coaster with the closure of the school due to the COVID-19 pandemic, re-opening thanks to our wonderful administration and Nurse Burnside, learning a new check-out system and then going back to our older check-out system of paper and pencil, re-licensing, the countless hours of planning and preparation, and everything in-between. It was all worth it!
I want to thank you all! Thank you, Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Thomas, for your constant support and model of leadership. Thank you, Nurse Burnside, for helping me to navigate all things medication and making sure Extended Day always had what we needed to make sure we were prepared for the unexpected. Thank you to the office staff for supporting our program in so many ways. Thank you to all the teachers and staff who I have had a wonderful time getting to know and grow with. Thank you to the Extended Day staff for always being reliable and flexible even when the unexpected happens. Also, for helping us to create a safe and fun place for our students to spend their afternoons once school let out. To Mrs. Page for being the glue that has kept this program together for the last almost 15 years. I could not have done it without you, your words of wisdom, your knowledge of the program, and dedication to the program and our STM community!
Thank you to our STM students who have offered laughs, hugs, and smile each day they arrived! It really made the end of the day more enjoyable. Lastly, thank you to our parents. Thank you for being flexible and supportive throughout the years! From our conversations at check-out to you helping with our potlucks and everything in between, I am grateful. I am praying for you all to have many more memorable STM years ahead and please know how grateful and blessed I feel to have been able to be a part of this wonderful community in Christ!
May God bless you all,
Sarah Page
