Introducing the Middle School Digital Homework Board
This year, organizational skills have been a focus for students, especially in Middle School. This makes sense, since sixth through eighth graders are really branching out on their own and becoming more independent regarding their school experience.
The Middle School team has been working all year to balance the student responsibility of ensuring assignments are written in planners with the 21st century reality that in almost every other aspect of life, knowing WHERE to find the information is becoming more important than writing it down. This is not an easy balance–and I highly commend the team for their thoughtful consideration to give Middle School students the best of all of the worlds-responsibility training with a touch of “where to find it.”
The final conclusion:
STM students are expected to write their homework down in each class period. At the end of each day, the teachers will pull up the Middle School Digital Homework Board, which has each class that the homeroom class has the capacity to attend. This time is to double check their homework against what their teachers have entered, ensure it is written down, and then pack the appropriate materials to go home with them.
In addition, the Middle School Digital Homework Board is posted in their Homeroom Google Classroom so that you, as parents, can check and verify that homework is completed at home.
Please note: It is the STM expectation that students will share their Google Classroom login information with their parents to allow for this verification. Please be sure you have the credentials you need to help make your child successful.
The Middle School Team is diligently entering all of their information into the appropriate places–and doing our part to allow families to partner with us for student success. We hope this is a useful tool and look forward to further student success.
