Have you reached that level of parenting where you can expect your child to pack their own lunch each day? What a relief to have one less "task" on your parenting plate!

Looking in on our middle school and upper school lunch room these days suggests some students could use a parent check-in on what (if anything) is being packed for lunch by your older student. Increasingly we are noticing students who bring only a bag of chips or a granola bar for lunch. If it's because of time in the morning, try setting the expectation that lunches must be packed before bed or that the first five minutes of morning prep are dedicated to creating a sufficient lunch. If it's a busy season at work or a parent is traveling during the week, consider ordering from Yay Lunch to make life easier on the short (or long!) term. Finally, STM's generous PTO helps ensure there are back up lunch plans for families who are struggling to afford food. If your student's lunch is lacking because of financial reasons, please reach out to Mrs. Davis directly at [email protected] for confidential assistance.
