Supporting Kids and Nutrition
Thursday, October 20th, our middle school students (6th, 7th, and 8th) will hear from Molly Bremer, MS, RDN about making wise food choices to support the growing adolescent body. Molly Bremer is a Registered Dietitian and all-around food enthusiast. Molly has experience in clinical settings, the nonprofit world, and outpatient settings. She also founded and directs her own private practice Mosaic Nutrition. She specializes in eating disorder treatment, sports nutrition, and women’s health, for adolescents and adults all through a Health at Every Size® (HAES) and Intuitive Eating lens. Molly has been featured in Runner’s World, EatingWell, and LIVESTRONG. Originally hailing from Northern Virginia she is a proud double-graduate of Virginia Tech (BS/MS) and the University of Virginia’s Dietetic Internship program. She has an affinity for outdoor activities and is a big-time bakery patron. We welcome Molly as a sign that in the post pandemic world we will be able to focus our attention on promoting preventative health measures for our students and staff.

Our Kids and Vaping
Unfortunately the prevalence of vaping in young people is on the rise in our county. For us parents of middle schoolers, we may feel a little clueless talking about vaping or even noticing if our kids are using this colorless, odorless substance.
In November, our middle school homerooms will be visited by a nurse and vaping expert to discuss the dangers of vaping (watch your homeroom communications for dates/times for your middle schooler as well as information on permission slips). Need to familiarize yourself with what vaping is and why it is dangerous for young lungs to start this conversation at home? Read more here at the Partnership to End Addiction.
