No Birthday Treats for School Consumption

As spring birthday season is upon us, please remember that birthday treats can be sent to school but they must be packaged to be sent home. Birthday treats are not to be eaten at school. This policy is not about Covid mitigation, but rather promotion of nutrition and food allergen safety. Food and treats are allowed for holiday parties and food events in consultation with the classroom teacher, and must be free of peanuts and tree nuts. Generally, latex-free non snack birthday items are preferred as a way of celebrating birthdays. Consider stickers (vinyl ones are very popular with kids of all ages), stamps, donating one copy of a favorite book to the classroom, backpack charms, mini play doh canisters, etc. Thank you for your attention to this, as it makes for some sad moments when donuts, cupcakes, etc. cannot be passed around.
