My name is Nancy Johnson and I currently live in Alexandria. I moved here from Boston, MA but I am not from any one particular place. My parents were both in the Air Force (this experience allowed me to live all around the world). I have traveled and lived in place such as Iceland, South Korea, England, Ireland, Germany, Japan, China, France, Australia and I have lived in several states (CT, HI, MA, RI, AL, NC to name just a few). I have moved 27 times throughout my life and I love meeting new people. I have an identical twin sister who I live with, she works at the USO. We have two cats named Jack Johnson and Wednesday as well as turtle named Eleanor.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Art and have completed a dietetic rotation where I became a Registered Dietitian. While working on my RD I was also able to work on a Master’s Degree in Nutrition. I have also completed a Master’s Degree in Education. The main emphasis of my degree is Curriculum Design and Structure. My main focus is teaching different learning modalities and reaching various learning stages. I believe not all children are the same so lessons need to be tailored to include multiple variations in instruction.
Transferring schools several times throughout my youth certainly impacted my own educational experience. I have gone to several schools overseas and really think my cultural exposure will help to incorporate an inclusive classroom.
