Is STM seeing a drop in the number of positive cases since the "opt out" policy took effect?

We have now gone almost a week without a positive case, and to be clear, STM really could not link the spike in cases to the families that chose to opt-out of the mask policy. The increase in cases rather appeared to be a reflection of the omicron spike in Arlington County.

Are students who are "opted out" of masks ever required to wear a mask at school?
Per the opt-out policy, fully vaccinated students who have been "opted out" of masks at school must wear a mask at school for ten days following the exposure *OR* remain home for ten days if a mask cannot be worn at school.

Are fully-vaccinated students who have taken off their masks required to quarantine in the event of a classroom case?
No. They are not required to quarantine. Fully vaccinated students who have an exposure at home or at school are required to wear a mask for ten days.

Are students teasing each other or making each other feel left out over masking status?
One of the greatest blessings of STM is our strong commitment to Christian values. Students are encouraged to be welcoming of their peers, masked or not, at all times. Our wonderful teachers are very careful about this policy in our classrooms.
