My name is Alison Mitek and this is my second year at St. Thomas More. As a military child and spouse, I have had the opportunity to live in quite a few places across our great country so transition is an old hat to me. I moved to Virginia in 2007 and have been in Arlington for 11 years. I received my first bachelor degree in Communications, Advertising and Public Relations and my second in Sport and Fitness Management. In 2007 I received my Masters Degree in Sport Management. Currently, with the support and guidance of the STM community and the Arlington Diocese, I am finishing up my last few credits to obtain my VCEA certification.
After working for a number of years I decided to stay home with my daughter and focus on family. It was then I realized a love of working with children. I began subbing in the Arlington Public School System and teaching Catechism at Our Lady of Lourdes in Arlington. I was blessed to have the opportunity to work at St. Thomas More last year as a Kindergarten aide. As luck would have it I was able to step in as the full time substitute for our wonderful 5th grade teacher when she needed to take a leave of absence.
I am thrilled to be joining the STM team this year as a second grade teacher.
