The Archdiocese of Baltimore has shared an opportunity for students to enroll in a course that focuses on test strategies only, not score improvement. The course works through the Barron’s prep book that many families purchase on their own. The course is a guided tour through the text and will make students more comfortable with the format (time management, filling in bubbles, guessing, etc.) The classes meet once a week via ZOOM.
The Office of Catholic Schools sees value in this approach for our students. Please see the attached flyer for more information and use the website (address on the flyer) to register.
The due date to register is Monday, September 20th and no late registrations will be accepted.
The Archdiocese of Baltimore High School Placement Test (HSPT) prep course is designed to prepare students to take the HSPT by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and test-taking strategies needed to maximize their performance. The instructor-led, online course will be held once a week for one hour and will include four weeks of reading, language, and verbal prep and four weeks of math and quantitative prep. Students will have two instructors throughout the course; one that specializes in reading and language and the other with expertise in math. The HSPT prep course will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 7 - 8 PM, as well as Saturday morning from 9 - 10 AM. Students participating in the course will attend one weekly session for eight weeks. Families will register for the day and time that fits with their schedule and will be assigned to a course section based on this preference. Students will be required to purchase Barron’s HSPT prep book and will be expected to complete weekly enrichment assignments throughout the course.
