School Clinic Special Announcements

Sick Policy
The most important thing we can do to protect our school community is to keep students home when they are ill, and to ensure that the illness has resolved or is of relatively low risk to the students and staff prior to the student returning to school. For that reason, STM is once again requiring a health care provider's note to return to school after illness-related absences. This means if your child is dismissed from school for symptoms of illness (generally, fever of 100.4 or higher, severe cough, diarrhea, or vomiting), they must see a health care provider before returning to school and they must have a note from that provider indicating that it is safe for the child to return to school. Likewise, if you keep your child home because they are displaying symptoms of physical illness, they must not return to school until they have been assessed by a health care provider. Virtual visits are acceptable. A covid test is only required if the provider orders it. Students who are returned to school without a note will not be permitted to join their class until a note can be provided.

Magnus App
If you have not already, please download the Magnus health app to your smartphone or tablet. You will use the same username and password that you have used to access Magnus from a computer to access your account on the application. You will need the application in order to complete the daily health attestation: the attestation is not available from a web browser.

Daily Health Attestation Test Run
You will notice alerts on your device starting next Wednesday when the Daily Health Attestation once again goes live on Magnus. Please use these three days as a "dry run" to get in the habit of using the app and completing the required screening for every school day. Starting Monday, August 23, 2021, the daily health attestation must be completed every morning. Your family will be issued name placards with your child's last name to be displayed on the dashboard during arrivals in the morning. STM staff will cross check the names on the cars with those not having completed their daily health attestation. Students without a complete daily health attestation will not be allowed to exit the car.

Masks and Distancing
Yes, these two things are back for this year. We are once again asking families to use either their STM gaiters or a disposable surgical mask in a plain, solid color. Masks will be marked daily and must be replaced daily. Students should pack an extra supply of five masks in their backpack. These are the only two mask options. Masks must be worn over the nose and mouth during all indoor portions of the school day. During outdoor activities, masks are optional. Custom printed STM breakaway youth mask lanyards will be provided to each student for keeping masks attached around their neck during lunch, recess and PE. Students can pick these up in their classrooms at Thrilling Thursday or the first day of school. Students using surgical masks should wear these to school daily.
