Ready to assemble kits have been donated by two wonderful STM volunteers and Saturday 7/24 we will be assembling, sanding and waterproofing the desks under the tents in the STM parking lot. We are shooting for two windows for volunteers - 9 to noon and then 1 to 4.
There will be drilling and assembly and A LOT of sanding and waterproofing.
The plan is to have all 24 desks assembled and finished by the afternoon.
We think we can do it and as the saying goes - "Many hands make light work."
If you can make it - No tools are needed but, please bring the following if you have them:
- Dust mask (preferably a "real" one, like a N95 mask)
- Eye protection
- Ear protection if you have it since we will be using several sanders at the same time. (We will have a box of disposable ear plugs if anyone doesn't have their own)
- Nitrile/vinyl gloves. The waterproofing is water based but always best to not get it on your hands.(We'll have some if you don't)
- A water bottle. We'll have water coolers available to refill them..
If we have dangerous weather the makeup day will be 7/31. (Same Bat-Times, same Bat-Place.)
Please contact the STM administrative office if you or your student is available to participate in this worthwhile opportunity to enhance our school. If you have questions or need more details, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
