St. Thomas More Cathedral School is Hiring for the 21-22 School Year

St. Thomas More Cathedral School is hiring the following faculty for the 2021-22 school year:

 

Kindergarten teacher

Responsibilities: 

  • Instruct all core subjects and religion.
  • Participate actively in grade-level teaching teams and seek out opportunities for cross-curricular learning with teachers in other departments.
  • Communicate proactively and regularly with parents, administrators and other faculty about student progress.
  • Attend faculty meetings plus occasional evening and weekend school events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.  

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in early childhood education and VCEA or Virginia state licensure required.
  • Experience designing lessons for differentiated instruction, familiarity with Fountas & Pinnell and kindergarten teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • The flexibility to adapt to hybrid or distance learning and effectively incorporate technology. Experience with online teaching tools would be an asset.
  • Strong classroom-management and community-building skills, and the ability to relate to and inspire adolescents.
  • A willingness to take on additional duties inside and outside the classroom.  

 

Art Teacher

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct art classes for PreK-8th grade students.
  • Participate actively in grade-level teaching teams and seek out opportunities for cross-curricular learning with teachers in other departments. 
  • Communicate proactively and regularly with parents, administrators and other faculty about student progress.
  • Attend faculty meetings plus occasional evening and weekend school events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.  

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in Art, Education, or a related field. VCEA or Virginia state licensure required.
  • Teaching experience strongly preferred, including ceramics instruction and familiarity with a kiln.
  • Experience designing art projects for and managing students of different ages and ability levels.
  • The flexibility to adapt to hybrid or distance learning and effectively incorporate technology. Experience with online teaching tools would be an asset.
  • Strong classroom-management and community-building skills, and the ability to relate to and inspire adolescents.
  • A willingness to take on additional duties inside and outside the classroom.  
 

Substitute Teachers

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (or education intern working toward one), availability during school hours 7:30am-3:30pm and a passion for educating students in PreK-8 Catholic school environment.

 

Part-time Lunch and Extended Day Aides

Responsibilities:

Monitor students during lunch, recess and after school care. Hours are 11am-1:30pm plus 3-6pm.

 

Background check and Virtus training is required for employment.
