Stomach Bug Making the Rounds
5 words that will strike terror in the heart of every parent...but alas it's true. A handful of students and adults have been experiencing symptoms of a stomach bug this week. Please remind your children how important it is to wash our hands for 20 seconds following every visit to the bathroom. Be on the lookout for sharp stomach cramps, which seem to be the early warning sign with this particular bug.

Pollen Counts Still High
Set a phone reminder to make sure your children are completing whatever their seasonal allergen regimen is each morning. There is not much the clinic can do to provide relief when a morning Zyrtec or Claritin has been missed. Likewise, we are seeing students with tree nut allergies cross react to the high pollen counts, triggering asthma-like symptoms. Be on the lookout at home for potentially needing to use your rescue inhaler more often. Other "non invasive" routines that can help: take a shower every night and at least rinse hair; encourage students to rinse their faces after time playing outside; make sure your furnace filter is fresh; and avoid opening windows until the counts have dropped.
