Mrs. Thomas, STM Assistant Principal, applied for a Porto Charities grant to assist with St. Thomas More Cathedral School’s current inclusion program. We are pleased to announce that the Board of Directors of Porto Charities approved a grant to St. Thomas More Cathedral School in the amount of $8,000. This grant was awarded to Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Thomas by Porto Charities Inc. Executive Director Lawrence Rzepka and President Leo Alonso.
Porto Charities Inc. is a nonprofit fraternal organization of Catholic men and women dedicated to assisting persons with disabilities in the Diocese of Arlington. Each year, Porto Charities, Inc. awards grants to diocesan schools for activities consistent with its mission to provide children with special needs the opportunity for inclusive Catholic education, and also for assistance to adults with special needs seeking meaningful employment in the Catholic Diocese of Arlington. Porto Charities funds the Grant Award Program from the proceeds of the Special Kids/Special Needs Second Collection held at participating parishes in the Diocese of Arlington and through a variety of fundraising activities.
